About The Lions

The Lions were set up in 2002. After winning promotion in 2006 they have finished 3rd in Division 1 of the Manchester Softball League in each of the last 3 years.

During the spring and summer we practice every Monday night at Trafford Metrovicks RUFC , from 6.30pm until Dusk then visit the on-site bar for a swift half or two.

Lions Team History

The Lions were founded by Dave Wareham in 2002. The Lions started off in Division 3 of MSL and quickly won promotion to Division 2. Thanks to a lot of patience and hard work by Dave, in 2006 the Lions won promotion into Division 1. Around this time Gill took over as captain and guided the team to a very respectable 3rd position in the Manchester Softball League in 2007, 2008 and 2009.

Over the years, both Dave and Gill have worked extremely hard to get the Lions up and running and it is thanks to them that we are as successful as we are. The hard work and commitment to the team over the years is greatly appreciated. In 2008 Dave was awarded with the "outstanding commitment to softball award" at the end of season softball ball.
