Lions Defeat More Lions in Friendly
March 2009

On Sunday 15th March, Newall Green School played host to an extremely close friendly game between the two teams. There was much anticipation and excitement at the first outdoor event of the season with everybody excited about hitting a proper ball for a change!

As the teams took to the field (well astroturf), there was tension in the air. In the first few innings a series of fielding errors saw the More Lions build a healthy lead. A couple of home runs by Felix and Darrel helped boost the More Lions confidence.

The Lions proved why they came 3rd in Div 1 last year by never giving up and in the last few innings getting it together (we claim we were just brushing off the rust at the start). A home runs by Ed and he who should not be named helped claw back some runs and in the 7th the Lions took the lead. With only 3 outs remaining, the more Lions had no reply and some slick fielding saw the more lions defeated. Both teams played extremely well and everyone had fun. Thanks to Pete and Andrea for umpiring!

The Lions will be entering the re-arranged 2008 C-Comp Nationals when they take place in May.

Lions win Edinburgh Tournament

Lions win Blackford Cup in Edinburgh Softball Tournament!!

In the whole tournament we scored 105 runs and only only conceding 12 all weekend. 2009 will see the Lions entering the higher competition.
